The Goddesses of Earth Biolab This project explores the intersections of goddess attributes and the study of biology. Embarking on an exhilarating journey, this project traverses diverse female goddesses, including renowned figures like Gaya and Pacha Mama, while introducing lesser-known Siberian and Central Asian Earth goddesses. It immerses itself in the interaction of cultural diversity, philosophical explorations, and ethical dimensions. From delving into ecofeminism to contemplating the moral status of animals and plants, it unveils emotional and aesthetic connections evoked by these goddesses, fostering contemporary ecological consciousness.

The modern technological world mirrors the constant movement and fluidity of a nomadic way of life. In much the same way historical nomads adapted to their surroundings, the modern technologically nomadic society, spanning the globe, faces the challenge of balancing rapid progress with sustainability. Goddess Umai was regarded as a complex network of interconnected entities, teaching us to comprehend this interdependence and value all elements of nature, resonating within the dynamic landscape. This underscores the imperative for technological nomads to deeply respect the Earth and commit to nourishing all forms of life, thereby forging ethical harmony.

The "Thermonuclear Skin" textile, inspired by the "Tokamak" video installation showcased at the Grand Palais Salon de Honour, Paris in 2016, embodies the concept of protection against the intense radiation of the "Artificial Sun". This insight stemmed from my visit to the Tokamak KTM capsule in Kurchatov, North Kazakhstan. As scientists harness this reactor for future alternative energy, temperatures inside the collider escalate, dwarfing the Sun's heat. The protective alloy used in Tokamak's construction deeply influenced my "Thermonuclear Skin" concept, which finds expression in my photographs and video recordings from that visit.

The inspiration for this work stemmed from my video installation "Tokamak," which draws its reference from the city of Kurchatov. In 2013, I created the video installation "Kurchatov 22" capturing the essence of the former Soviet nuclear test site. In 2016, I revisited Kurchatov, documenting a state-of-the-art scientific nuclear reactor, a sophisticated multi-tiered system now serving civilian applications. Yet, the haunting remnants of the region's military past persistently reason.
